For big projects to be successful, it is extremely helpful to run a session (preferably with an independent facilitator) early on with all key stakeholders (e.g. Finance lead, HR lead, legal rep, subject-matter expert, etc.). The benefits of this are that:
a. these key stakeholders have the opportunity to raise issues and own actions;
b. key risks are identified and mitigated from the outset; and
c. attendees buy-in to the initiative from the start.
Active Directions has recently introduced a new initiative process including this session for a client, and it has proved very successful in accelerating big projects.
