What problems do you consistently solve for your clients?
In technology we are often taking complex situations, untangling them, and finding a path forward. I am a no-nonsense type of guy, very pragmatic and data-driven so problem solving is something I enjoy and have a knack for. It important to not shy away from tough conversations, and probably the most value I bring to the table is providing my clients with the necessary facts and clarity to allow them to make good decisions about technology and business processes.
What are you happiest doing when you’re not working?
Scuba diving and being underwater is my happy place. I also own an outdoor business (Hunter Valley), and I enjoy seeing the look on people’s faces when they come and ride our side-by-side vehicles with us!
What would your motto be?
Work hard, play hard!
The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is…
“Surround yourself with people who are smarter than you”, or as the famous quote says, “If you’re the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong room.”
From a very young age, I applied this and always tried to hang around people much smarter than me. I was fortunate enough to meet brilliant people. Some were “book smart”, others were “street smart”, but always much smarter and wiser than me. At first, it is very confronting and uncomfortable, and your ego doesn’t like it, but over time, the impact is enormous. Today and in my practice as a consultant, I continue to apply this and never hesitate to call upon someone “smarter” than me to help my client.
